Work package 2: PROCESS DEVELOPMENT

Objectives - The main objective of WP2 is the development of the different micro process technologies of the different ESR projects. Each ESR will carry out extensive research activity for the scientific understanding, analysis, control and optimization of the different technologies in order to meet the process and product requirements specified in WP1.

In WP2, process monitoring and off-line metrology will be employed for the research. WP2 is divided in two tasks, depending on the technology related to the different ESR projects.

 

Description of Work and Role of Partners

Task 2.1 Micro Moulding, Forming and Extrusion Manufacturing Technologies (Lead: UBRAD, Participants: DTU, IPU, POLIMI, USTRAT, (ORT), (DESMA), (POLY), (ENKI), (MICROSYS), (ULTRA))

In Task 2.1, the ESRs will apply experimental and numerical methods, as well as statistical and metrological methods to perform the development of micro injection moulding, micro ultrasonic moulding, micro sheet metal forming, micro bulk metal forming and micro extrusion.

 

Task 2.2 Micro Machining and Finishing Manufacturing Technologies (Lead: USTRAT, Participants: DTU, KUL, UBREM, POLIMI, USTRAT, TUC, (STRECON), (SARIX), (ECMT), (BTE), (PAS), (MICROSYS)).

In Task 2.2, the ESRs will apply experimental and numerical methods, as well as statistical and metrological methods to perform the development of micro electrical discharge machining, micro electro-chemical machining, mechanical polishing, chemical polishing, micro grinding, micro milling injection moulding, micro ultrasonic moulding, micro sheet metal forming, micro bulk metal forming and micro extrusion.

 

Task 2.3 Micro Metrology Technology (Lead: UNOTT, Participants: DTU, KUL, UBREM, IPU, POLIMI, USTRAT, UBRAD, TUC, (SIOS), (MARPOSS),

(ALICONA)). In Task 2.3, metrology will be investigated and optimized as a process itself. Research will be devoted in developing metrology solutions for the ESR micro product applications and optimize their performance, in order to maximize accuracy and precision and minimize measuring time.
